Future/Past – Tania Willis

Flo, Flo, Flo, Flo…

Trainee journalist studying at Bournemouth University. Love raiding charity shops. And peoples minds...

Best Album…

…Florence and the Machine – Lungs

The best album of 09 would have to be the slightly commercial choice of Florence and the Machine’s Lungs. Because well when since has such a red headed beauty made whats is described as ‘soul inspired indie’ so bloody catchy? Florences vocal power has a fairy tail like quality which juxtaposes lyrics which are similar to a Tim Burton’s adaptation of Alice and Wonderland. Personal favourites being kiss with a fist, dog days are over and the boardering lyricly disturbing girl with one eye.

Best Gig…

…Lovebox Festival – Rizla Arena

Best gig of 09 would have to be amoung Victoria Park’s most exotic Palm Tree collection in the Rizla Arena at Lovebox festival. Radio one’s Annie Nightingale proved she still had it creating an atmosphere to rival any peak season Ibiza set on Bora Bora beach. If you ignored the fact the palm trees were fake, the party was for one day only and the cockney accents you migt aswell of been on the Party Island listening to this set. Nightingale brought a fresh, albeit electronic, beat bashing perspective to pop songs such as Lilly Allen’s The fear, and a dub mash up of 80′s hit All systems go.

Keep an eye out for…

…Florence again?

One to watch for 2010 I’m going to have to stick by Flo, who after playing a plethora of festivals this summer and charting with her debut album at number 2, can only go from strength to strength with her ever growing army of followers to support the Florence Welch machine.
