Best Album…
…Florence and the Machine – Lungs
Just such a great album. Her voice is so unique and distinctive her debut album was a fresh alternative to the mainstream music out there. The lyrics to songs such as Kiss with a fist and Dog days are original and refreshing but with a humorous touch, particularly with Kiss with a Fist. It’s such a punchy song, the lyrics despite its serious nature, make it really likeable. The albums mix between soft and strong vocals, hard hitting rhythms and angelic uses of instruments bring together one fantastic album which did her introduction into the music world with much justice.
Best Gig…
…Take That – the Circus Tour

Christ we miss the '90s
Ok so this one I didn’t even go to, I saw it on the telly but I so wish I could have gone. Its as pop filled and mainstream as you like but it was utterly fantastic and I can imagine it being an unbelievable concert to see. This was the Take That Circus tour. The whole circus theme was taken to a new level and totally outdone any gig I have seen. Elephants, trapeze artists and anything circus like was chucked onto the stage and within the audience, making it a total interactive gig for anyone, any age to enjoy. The costumes were fantastic and the boy bands performance of old classics and new favourites could not be faulted. It was just really good.
Keep an eye out for…
…Delphic
I saw these in Southampton a few months ago and now Radio One have picked up on their new sounds so they are definitely one to look out for, and I’m sure with the likes of Greg James making them his single of the week they are going to be big in 2010. Delphic’s use of synthesisers, quick drum riffs, tight harmonies and futuristic sounds make them really interesting. Although, songs such as Doubt and Counterpoint really reminisce the 80′s and its electronica sounds but with a contemporary touch. Can’t wait to see what they get up to in the next year.
